My husband and I have lived in apartments for 15 years and wanted to start investing in ourselves. We were ready for more privacy and for neighbors more spread out. Timing and financial reasons kept us from buying a home sooner.

“I had wanted to make the move from my house to a townhome for a number of years, but was dragging my feet due to the time and stress involved. “Ty Shaw/SWELL was recommended to me by a friend, and I immediately figured out why he would be on the top of anyone's recommendation list. I was interested in purchasing a property in a city several hours from where I actually live, and needed several very specific qualifications to be met in order to satisfy my unique needs. Ty was immediately up for the challenge, agreeing not only to view house after house for me on his own (since I was not in town much), but also volunteering to video each of them and taking the time to upload those videos and send them my way after every showing. He familiarized himself with my needs so he could easily rule out houses that wouldn’t work and narrow down those that might, and he never made me feel judged or questioned on why I needed so many unique qualifiers to be met. 

As if that level of service was not enough, Ty has continued to be equally above and beyond since the purchase was complete. Even though he had more than fulfilled his end of the contract and could have easily sent me on my way with my new house, he didn’t. Before and after my purchase, he has been willing to meet inspectors, contractors, plumbers, etc at the house in my absence because he knows I can’t easily be available to do so. He even showed up once to help me cut down a tree and another time to help me tear out a wall, just because he knew I was there working on a tight timeline… He has proven he’s the type of person who helps people even when he isn’t obligated to do so, and those people are a rare find.

“I relocated to Chapel Hill area to be closer to my children. After several years here, I decided it was time to sell our family home and a rental property I had in Wilmington. Before selling my home and rental property, I had to make several trips to Wilmington from Chapel Hill each year to maintain them. Often times it was stressful and I was ready to stop being a landlord. Before working with SWELL home & living, I had worked with three other real estate agents and had mixed experiences. I expected the process of selling my properties to take longer and require more work on my part than it turned out to be. I wanted to buy a home because renting is expensive and a financial liability, with the current pricing of renting it made more fiscal sense to buy a home. I anticipated a difficult process between learning what to do and what was needed as a first time home buyer. 

My favorite thing about working with SWELL was how easy the entire process Ty and Anthony made it. They took care of the smallest details from letting me know what to expect, to making sure when placing offers, that it was the strongest possible option without “breaking the bank”.
